This blog was originally started to motivate people with physical and mental disabilities. I think this counts perfectly because last night I attended a show in Brantford where two people spoke about the challenges they face with brain injury.
I had seen Melanie’s show at a local comedy night before, and already knew she’s hilarious. But this was something different. Motivational comedy I think it was called? Either way… I love a great night out at Yuk Yuks and I love watching Ted talks, so it seemed like a great show to check out. It’s definitely a perfect blend of the two.
The Ex Files turned out to be a blast! Two very funny people getting on stage to share their experience with brain injury and all the struggles that they faced being together, raising a family, and co-parenting after divorce. And somehow with their positivity, they turned it all into a blessing. Yeap that’s right, a blessing.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and even better, you’ll leave with a renewed sense of purpose.
I’ve always believed that everything that happens to us in this life, happens to teach us something. Melanie and Warren prove that you really can choose how you deal with the cards you’re given and turn it into an amazing adventure. Isn’t that what life is all about?
They’re doing it right, whatever they’re doing! If you want to check out more of what I’m talking about, you can find them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or check out the website for touring info.
And we can’t forget the Starving Artists Cafe! I’d never been before, but I’d seen a ton of events they’ve held on facebook. It’s a cool place, filled with local art for sale. A lovely quaint spot, and the perfect venue to host a nice intimate evening.
Always an adventure!
